MEASURING GUIDES

We recommend using a flexible tape measure. Do not measure your current collar lying flat on a surface - you may not always get an accurate neck measurement using this method.

  • USING A TAPE MEASURE

Using a soft tape measure, measure your dog’s neck where their current collar sits. Allow sufficient space under the tape measure to lay one or two fingers flat on your dog's neck.

  • USING AN OLD COLLAR

Alternatively, measure the internal circumference of their current collar when it is done up at its usual belt notch.

Quick release buckles are not adjustable - they are made to the measurement you send, so please take extra care when measuring.

  • SLIP & TAG COLLARS

Because these collars slip over your dog’s head, we ask for the head measurement at its widest (this is generally the forehead), as well as the neck measurement.

If your dog’s head is smaller than the neck measurement (e.g. some sighthound breeds), note this at checkout.

  • PUPPIES

We recommend the Puppy Collar for puppies in their first few months. Other collar listings may may not suit a very young puppy’s neck - if in doubt, drop us a message! The puppy collar has plenty of holes for your growing pup and includes an adjustable strap keeper to keep that cheeky excess material under control.

UNSURE OF WHICH SIZE TO CHOOSE?

If your dog is on the cusp of a larger measurement (e.g. they're 16"), we recommend sizing up so they have some wiggle room either side of their measurement.

If you're worried whether a specific size will fit your pooch, don't fret! All collars are made to measure and the shop sizing is purely for pricing purposes. Please be sure to indicate your dog's neck measurement in a note at checkout.

CHOOSING THE BEST COLLAR WIDTH

Use the following as general guidelines, giving consideration to your dog’s size.

12mm / 16mm - Suitable for XS to S breeds with short, small necks, i.e. chihuahua and small terrier breeds.

20mm - The most popular width. It suits dogs with S to M necks, i.e. mini dachshunds to spaniels.

25mm - Suitable for M to L breeds, and for breeds with long necks (i.e. Iggies/whippets/sighthounds)

38mm / 50mm - These are our largest widths and suitable only for hound collars.
